Counseling Center
The Counseling Center delivers comprehensive mental health care, including personalized therapies and medication when necessary, to meet the unique needs of children. Our goal is to restore one’s sense of well-being and instill confidence so they can grow up to achieve their full potential.
Problems such as depression or witnessing a traumatic injury can leave lasting effects on one’s emotions and the way they view their world. Many children are too young to put these thoughts and feelings into words, which is why it is important that they receive help from a team that specializes in their unique needs. Our team’s compassionate approach creates a comfortable, nurturing atmosphere that puts clients of all ages at ease so we can fully understand what is troubling them.

Expertise
Convenience
We are located across the street from St. Francis Medical Center and the parking is free. Our team includes bilingual (English and Spanish) therapists to ensure comfort and ease in communication of one’s thoughts and feelings.
Mental Health Services through St. Francis Medical Center
We offer a wide range of services and a compassionate approach to help individuals and families to manage mental health problems that may prevent one from becoming successful.
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
We help children ages 4 and up overcome emotional and behavioral difficulties related to trauma. There are many forms of trauma, including car accidents and violent crimes. We use a child and client-centered approach to help one work through feelings and regain a sense of security in their lives.
Therapy for Depression
Children and adults with depression feel a sense of hopelessness about the world around them. We use age-appropriate techniques to help adolescents and teens ages 12 to 18 explore their feelings. Our goal is to help them gain the skills to recognize and break the cycle of negative thinking that causes depression.
Family-Based Therapy
If frequent arguments, physical force or other child behavior problems are disrupting your family’s life at home, we can help. Our Alternatives for Families program helps children and their caregivers come together and heal after domestic violence or abuse.
Case Management Services
Our whole-person approach includes addressing potential barriers that could get in the way of one’s recovery. Case management workers and social workers coordinate helpful community resources, such as transportation, temporary housing and meal delivery services.
School-linked Services
We work with select schools in southeast Los Angeles County to provide on-site mental health services. Our school-based services help children and adolescents overcome mental health issues and eliminate barriers to successful learning.
