Volunteer Programs
Volunteering at St. Francis Medical Center offers a meaningful way to give back to the Lynwood community while supporting patients, families, and staff with compassion and care. Our Volunteer Program provides opportunities throughout the hospital—including patient care units and the Family Life Center—where volunteers help create a warm, welcoming environment and make a real difference in the daily experience of those we serve. Whether you’re exploring a career in healthcare or looking to contribute your time and talents, volunteers play an essential role in our mission and help reflect the heart of our community inside our walls.
Patient Advocate
Patient Advocate Volunteers support the healthcare team by rounding on patients to assess comfort, address non-clinical concerns, and identify opportunities to improve the patient experience. This role focuses on promoting clear communication and enhancing overall patient satisfaction throughout the hospital stay.
Music Therapy
Music Therapy Volunteers provide gentle, therapeutic music by singing or playing an instrument of their choice for patients. These soothing sounds help create a calming environment, reduce stress, and offer emotional comfort to patients and their families.
Compassionate Listener
Compassionate Listener Volunteers offer emotional support through conversation and presence, primarily in the ICU but available to all departments. This role is especially important for patients and families facing end-of-life situations or experiencing isolation, providing comfort, dignity, and human connection.
NICU Cuddler
NICU Cuddler Volunteers support neonatal staff by holding and comforting infants when appropriate, helping promote calm and connection. Volunteers may also assist with non-clinical tasks such as stocking supplies to support the overall care of babies and staff.
